Can I work as student in Australia?

One of the advantages of being an international student in Australia is that you can work part time while you study. The permission to work is part of your Australian Student Visa. You can work up to 40 hours per fortnight while your course is in session. However, you cannot start work until you have commenced your course in Australia.

Work is not guaranteed. The money you could earn while working can help towards pocket money, but cannot support your fees and living expenses.

If you’re bringing your family  your spouse can also work up to 40 hours per fortnight once you have started your course in Australia. If you or your dependent work in excess of these restrictions, your visas may be subject to cancellation.
